Halitosis is usually caused by bacteria, since it is possible to pass bacteria on to your children technically it would be possible to pass the Halitosis causing bacteria on, possible, but highly unlikely. Everyone has most bacteria already present in their mouth, but it just depends on how much it flourishes weather it becomes a problem or not. It sounds like you've tried just about everything to get your problem under control. I would just strongly stress keeping up with excellent oral hygiene, brush after every meal, and be sure to brush the back of your tounge as far back as comfortable, and brush the roof of your mouth. It is also possible that your Halitosis is a systemic problem, and could be caused by acid reflux. Good Luck! Dr. Nancy H. Khalaf
